The TDIs are coming! ... The TDIs are coming!

Ran across this on Craigslist:

https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/5701771537.html

Emailed him trying to figure out what the deal in. Say's its a 1990 200 with an automatic but the TDIs didn't get the auto trans until 1992.

He sent me the photos:

Ran the VIN and it decoded as a manual truck, but I'm clearly seeing an automatic knob there.

He says he's up shit creek because he already paid for the truck but hit the limit for buy/sell in a year in North Carolina. You think he'd figure that out before committing to buying something across the ocean.

Anyway, thought I'd pass it along. Just need more of these things to come over.

Well the big orange knob between the fuel filter and cam cover tells you it has an automatic transition in it.
Diesel powered engines and parabolic leaf springs. These are a few of my favorite things.

This guy said he'll let it go for $4,000 — that's still in England.

So you'd have to pay the guy then you are on the hook for importing it.

EDIT: That seems really expensive. They are giving away D1s over there:
